Updating your asset names

Provide a custom name for your assets so you can more easily identify them

There are two types of assets in the Metrikus platform: static assets and dynamic assets. Static assets don't have any live data associated with them, whereas dynamic assets are updated every time new data is received. Sensors create dynamic assets. Upon creation, a default value will be populated as the asset's name.

With static assets, you can edit the name of your asset using the 'Name' field.

With live assets, you will need to create a new feature that will store the new name of the asset; otherwise, it'll be overwritten with the imported name every time new data is received.

Editing your features

Each asset type has its list of features. These features can be viewed on the 'Info' tab when you click on the asset in the map view.

To add a new feature, click on the 'Feature Name' at the bottom of the window, provide a name for the feature and set it as a text field. Click the "+" icon.

Setting the new asset title

Now you have a new name for the feature, and you can select it as the asset title. To do this, click on the cog icon in the top right corner of the info window.

In the pop-up window, navigate to the 'Features' tab, where you'll see a list of features. There is a column named 'Title' with a select toggle. Click on the toggle next to the feature you would like to set as the title. Click Save.

Your asset will now be named using the information in that feature and shown on the map.
